Meet the Artist: Sally Chang
Sally has been a potter for more than 35 years and has enjoyed being a part of the Camano Studio Tour since 2015 after moving here from Idaho.
She describes herself as a “maker of things” and has been actively in pursuit of creating art most of her life. With an MFA in Fiber Arts from the University of Washington, prior to moving to Camano Island, Sally was active in the farmer’s market in Moscow, Idaho and was prolific in both pottery and fabric arts for years.
With a focus now on her pottery, Sally has recently been exploring larger pieces that were not as possible in the farmer’s market setting. She’s also noticed the influence of the nature of the Island on her artwork, infusing blues and greens into her work in response to the surrounding waters.
She is eager to return to the Tour this year in part to ensure the momentum of past years is not lost, but also to reengage with those with whom she’s forged connections over the years.
